HID MMS Demo: NFC Card Emulation Instructions
This application demonstrates **NFC Card Emulation** with Dyna Family devices (MMS). It allows you to program your connected MagTek device to behave like an Ntag (NFC Tag), so when a mobile phone taps the device, it is redirected to a specified URL.
1. Connection
Establish a connection to your MagTek device:
- Locate the Connection panel (Step 01).
- Toggle the switch labeled Activate Reader to the ON position.
- The status indicator will change from NOT CONNECTED to WELCOME (or CONNECTED).
- To disconnect, toggle the switch back to the OFF position.
- For iPhone users, make sure to disable Block Pop-ups in your phone's settings.
2. Configure Payload
Choose how you want to program the device using the tabs in Step 02:
Option A: Presets
- Select the Presets tab.
- Choose a pre-defined document or action from the Select Document Link dropdown menu.
- The hexadecimal command will automatically populate the Command Buffer.
Option B: URL Builder
- Select the URL Builder tab.
- Destination URL: Enter the website address (e.g.,
magtek.com). The system will automatically add https:// if omitted.
- Timeout: Set the duration (in seconds) the device will wait for a tap (Default: 15 seconds).
- Click Calculate Command to generate the payload.
- The command will appear in the output box, and the payload size will be calculated.
3. Transmit to Hardware
Once a command is generated (from either Presets or Builder):
- Click the large Send Command button in Step 03.
- Note: If no command is generated, the system will alert you to select a preset or calculate a command first.
4. Interaction
After sending the command:
- A Reader is Ready overlay will appear on the screen.
- A countdown timer will display the remaining time to tap your device.
- Tap your NFC-enabled mobile phone to the MagTek device's contactless reader.
- If successful, your phone will open the configured URL.
- You can click Cancel on the overlay to abort the operation early.
This demonstration showcases the power of MagTek's Mobile Magnetic Secure (MMS) technology, allowing easy reconfiguration of hardware functionality via simple HID commands.
