This document provides instructions on how to use the Dyna Family Barcode Scanner (BCR) Search and Driver's License (DL) Scan Demo.

Overview

This demo application allows you to scan barcodes using a Dyna Family Device. It has two primary functions:

Getting Started

  1. Connect Your Device: Ensure your Dyna Family device is connected to your computer via USB. The USB Status indicator at the bottom of the page should change from "Disconnected" to "Connected" and the image from a disconnected USB icon to a connected one.
  2. Open the Device Connection: Click the Open button located below the "Device Response Console" to establish a connection with your Dyna Family device.
  3. Monitor Device Activity: The Device Response Console (text area) will display real-time communication logs between the application and your device.

Using the Barcode Scanner

Scanning a Barcode

  1. With your Dyna Family device connected and opened, simply scan a barcode.
  2. The scanned data will appear in the Last Scanned Data section.
    • If it's an AAMVA-compliant Driver's License, a "Driver's License Data" modal window will automatically appear, displaying the parsed information.
    • If it's another type of barcode, a new browser tab will open, performing a search for the scanned data on your selected search engine.

Smart Search Settings

This section allows you to customize where non-Driver's License barcode data will be searched:

  1. Locate the Search non-URL/DL data on: dropdown menu.
  2. Click on the dropdown and select your preferred search engine (e.g., Google, Amazon, Walmart, eBay).
  3. Your selection will be automatically saved for future use.

Driver's License Data Modal

When an AAMVA-compliant Driver's License is scanned, a modal window will pop up, displaying various fields from the license.
